Change Your Keyboard Work: Turn on Mouse Keys & Use Keyboard as a Mouse


Today I will show you how to use mouse from keyboard. This means you need no mouse and you will be able to do mouse work by keyboard. Sometimes our mouse may not work and so that we can not use computer comfortably. So turning on mouse keys will help you get rid of this problem. I will discuss how to turn on mouse keys in Windows 7 and use it from your keyboard. These keys are worked as a mouse: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 at the right side of keyboard under Num Lock. It's very interesting. So follow my instructions how to enable mouse keys and work by it:

How to Turn on Mouse Keys:



  1. At first, Go to Control Menu from your "Start Menu".
  2. Then look for "Ease of Access" and click on it.
  3. Next click on "Ease of Access Center".
  4. Then you will see many option. But you have to click on "Make the Keyboard Easier to use".
  5. Click "Set up Mouse Keys" under "Turn on Mouse Keys".
  6. Check the box named "Turn on Mouse Keys".
  7. You will also see other options. Also select "Hold down CTRL to speed up and SHIFT to slow down". If you select it, when you will use mouse keys, by pressing CTRL+Mouse Keys your cursor will run quickly and by pressing SHIFT+Mouse Keys your cursor will run slowly.
  8. You will also see another options under "Other setting".
  9. There are two options under "Use Mouse Keys when NUM LOCK is", one is "On" and other is "Off". If you select "On", your mouse keys will work when your Num Lock is turned on. On the other hand, if you select "Off", your mouse keys will work when your Num Lock is turned off. 
  10. You can also change the Mouse Keys speed by changing value of "Top speed" and "Acceleration" under "Pointer speed".
  11. Now click on "Apply" and next click "OK".

Using Method of Mouse Keys:


  1. All of the button at the right side of your keyboard where Num Lock button is located will be worked as a mouse keys.
  2. Pressing "5", mouse pointer will do a single click, pressing 2,8,4,6 your mouse mouse pointer will go to respectively below, up, left and right. Pressing "0" you can move anything by mouse pointer. Pressing "+" your mouse pointer will make a double click. Pressing "-" your mouse pointer will be changed to left button right button. You can again get left button by pressing "/"
  3. If your mouse pointer will work slowly, press CTRL+Mouse Keys and you will be able to do mouse work quickly and easily.
